The Bethpage Wresting Alumni Club exists soley to support Bethpage wrestling at all levels. The organization was formed in 2005 and hosted the first annual Bethpage Wrestling Alumni Night in January 2006. The 2006-2007 season saw a suuceesful fundraising effort that resulted in the purchase of a mat spotlight, a full team set of finalists singlets and the support of Bethpage wrestling by funding several Bethpage wrestlers’ attendance at camps and clinics.  Money raised during the 2007-2008 helped send many Bethpage wrestlers to the J. Rob, Bruce Baumgartner Heavyweight and Hofstra Team Camps.

Our goal as an organization is to continue to meet at least annually to promote alumni participation in the Bethpage wrestling program. The annual alumni night event is a fun and productive evening in which we gather to support Bethpage wrestling at a current varsity wrestling match and then continue the evening at a local restaurant/bar to reminisce and honor past coaches, wrestlers and friends of Bethpage wrestling.  The 2006-2007 season Alumni night honoree was current varsity coach Ron Abatelli for his 25 years as head wrestling coach at Bethpage High School.  For the 2007-2008 Alumini Night event, a tribute to Al Blau and Frank Melone is planned. Al and Frank lead the Bethpage wrestling team together for many years in the 60’s and through 70’s.
